My Weekly Acting Diary

Before I came to Stockton Riverside College I was a part of Nunthorpe Players for 2 years. I also took part in my school productions which were; Mary Poppins, We Will Rock You, Matilda, Wizard of Oz. With all these productions I was in the ensemble which included many different roles and in Wizard of Oz I was helping with the costume design and production. I enjoyed doing the costumes as it allowed me to be backstage and helped me to develop new skills so for future performances I have the experience to help. My hopes for this year is to push myself out of my comfort zone and try something different and gain more experience to help my credibility when I start working in the industry.
My Induction Week
We played lots of games to help us learn each other's names and to help us get to know each other better. We also met the makeup and film and TV students as we will be working closely with them in the coming year. Here is an example of when we split off into groups to take pictures in different places around the college to help us find places and help us get to know each other. The images at the top are examples of what the group I was in did.
Starting to develop our acting skills
In our first few lessons we expanded on improvisation and learnt different methods. A few of the methods are; the rule of yes, acceptance and 40 things. The rule of yes is when we are told to do something like walk around like a chicken to which our response is 'Yes let's' then we will do what is asked of us. Acceptance is going with the flow of the scene and taking part in the most imaginative way possible. 40 things is when we were given an item (a chair) and as a small group of 5 people made a list of 40 things that the chair is.
Theatre Practitioners
We also have begun to look at famous theatre practitioners so we learnt about Stanislavski. We learnt and practised some of his methods, this included; the 7 levels of tension and the given circumstances. The 7 levels of tension are (in order from level 1 to 7) ; catatonic, California cool, neutral, curious, excited, annoyed, furious. The different levels are different amounts of tension in our body, the pace we walk and our posture. As the levels increase we increase our tension, pace and our posture becomes tighter.
Acting for Screen
We learnt the Meisner technique and have begun to look at a film script where my character is on a phone call to an ex partner because this helps us move through emotions subtly because the camera can capture the emotions well so actors don't need to do over the top movements and emotions like in theatre. I am finding this difficult as I am very new to film acting but I appreciate the challenge as it will help me when it comes to the filming section of the year and it starts to develop my film acting skills which I will need when I go into the Industry.
The Globe - The Ghost Light Tour
We started doing research on our preferred characters for the show. Mine is Bonnie Parker the notorious criminal who was part of the famous Bonnie and Clyde duo. In my research I found that she always wanted to be a famous actress and she met Clyde in 1930 and helped him escape prison by smuggling him a gun. I chose Bonnie because she is a very different type of villain to what I have seen before and the accent is a challenge but will be worthwhile as it will help increase my accent skills. We had a lesson where we characterised ourselves to become villains. The image is of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.
Singing Lessons
We started listening to the Pinocchio soundtrack and learning some of the songs. I enjoyed listening to the songs but struggled as I can't sing high but I will get better with time as Tom helps us by giving us advice and shows us exercises like sirens to improve our voice and the songs won't be such a struggle.
Weekly Acting Diary
Week beginning 23rd of September
Monday - We played warm up games to help us increase focus and increase our perception and work together as an ensemble. One of the games we played to help us work together was Alien, Cow, Tiger. This is where we all pick one of the actions to do as an alien, cow or tiger and the most people that did the same action keep playing and everyone else is out. This game was to help us work together as one which will help us in the shows especially the finale of the Ghost Light Tour. We then were told how the audition process will be for the Ghost Tour. We rehearsed the audition script the rest of the day.
Tuesday - We learnt the Stanislavski 'magic if' which is where we immerse our selves into the situation like the room is raining and the floor is turning to quick sand. We then started to improv a scene in groups where we realised we were locked in a room whilst making sure we are acting very naturally with no over the top emotions to help us with the film acting we will be doing. We then continued to rehearse for the audition tomorrow.
Wednesday (audition day) - Today I auditioned for Bonnie Parker. I spent the morning reviewing the lines and putting the scene together. Before I went into the audition I felt a bit nervous as it is my first SRC audition and I changed partners so we had a short time to put it together. During the audition I was confident and just went for it. The feedback I got from the audition was that the accent was consistent and I never dropped a word and that she was proud of us. After the audition I was very happy and proud of myself as I was having second thoughts about auditioning yesterday. Another piece of advice that Kelly gave us was come up with ideas to make the scene more inclusive with the audience for when we perform at the Globe.
Thursday - This morning I read through the full My Son Pinocchio script and listened to the songs with the first years. We each played different characters. I found it helpful as I now know what the story is and an idea of the characters so I can start thinking about which characters to audition for. This afternoon all Level 3s were together and we sang Toys (one of the songs from Pinocchio) and roughly set where it will be. I found it good that we started learning and blocking the songs as it means we will be more prepared and the process where we put the whole production together won't feel rushed.
Week beginning 30th of September
Monday - This morning we played cat and mouse to get us moving and warm us up for the lesson. I found this game very stressful as everyone gets very competitive and it's a fast game which is good as it helps us increase our focus and concentration which is essential to the game. We also played 'Mafia Boss' which is similar to the game 'wink murder' but instead of dying when being winked at, you go and kill someone else. This game requires focus as people guess who the mafia boss is (the people who wink at others). It also helped us to start the day thinking about murder mysteries. Today we split into groups of 8 and looked at 2 scenes from the play Clue. We each chose a character and worked on our characterisation as these characters are very known characters all with each individual backstories that were shown clearly through body language stance and expression when saying the lines. As Clue is also quite comedic we worked on how to make the scene funny. I found the clue scene interesting and enjoyable as it was a different challenge as I have not had to perform such a specific script that requires very specific characterisation that leads to a small interpretation of the character which I enjoy doing when I am given a new character in a performance. The video is an example of another group performing the 2 Clue scenes.
Tuesday - This morning we played cat and mouse to warm us up and alien, tiger, cow which enhances our ability to work together as a successful ensemble. We learnt Stanislavski's final tool to help make a successful natural performance. This tool is the objectives of a character. This is something that the character wants to achieve either by the end of the play or piece. To fully understand this tool we split into groups of 6 and created a scene at an airport where there was a family holiday and each group was given a different super objective - this is an objective that the whole group had to achieve. My group's objective was that one person is really nervous for the flight. I found this easy as we had one person really nervous for the flight and others just calmed him down. We then expanded on this by each giving ourselves an individual objective and the group a new super objective. My character's objective was to change my flights and leave the family for a holiday with just me and my sister. Our groups new objective was to make the flight on time as we have a history of missing the flight.
Wednesday - Today we played lockers and 13 to help us focus and prepare for the day. Today we got the first official script of The Ghost Light Tours. After we read this we were told we had to re-audition for the parts we want so Kelly can hear what the script is like and see if she needs to make any changes. I like the script and find it both scary and mysterious. The 'Bonnie and Clyde' part is interesting and I enjoy playing the character. I rehearsed with a different Clyde which was odd to start with but we got along and the scene looked good.
Thursday - Today we weren't in lessons as we went on a trip to York Dungeons. This is to help us with our Ghost Tour as we can experience audience interaction which is what we will be doing in our show. I found the dungeon inspiring as I now have some new ideas for the character and I have tips and ideas of ways to interact top scare the audience. The dungeon was very dark and mysterious which made it seem more scary as we had no idea what will happen. In each different section multiple people were picked on. This was helpful to watch as we could see 1 on 1 interaction between the characters and the audience which will help with our show.Week beginning 07th of October
Monday - In the morning we played Captain's coming and bombs, jets and spitfires. Both of these games require focus and help warm us up as we need to be alert and fast so we aren't last where we need to run to. We then talked about the York Dungeon trip and things we noticed that where good and bad. The first draft of the cast list was given out with gaps as Kelly isn't sure who to cast for what part yet. We then went deeper into development for the characters like what the lighting, sound, props, costume and audience emotion where going to be during the performance. To end the day we went back to preparation for the re-auditions.
Tuesday - Splat and Ninja help us to warm up and focus before the lesson. I enjoy the games as they are helpful but also really enjoyable. Today we continued on Unit 1 (Acting 101) with putting together our performance. After some preparation time we performed the script in front of each other and gave feedback. I found this helpful as I knew what was good and what needed to be worked on for the performance and my character. We also had 2 Guest speakers in today. 1 was a representative from the BFI Film Academy that run a short course about screen acting. The course includes gaining practical experience both behind and in front of the camera when making short films and learning about screen filming and the process. I have applied for this course which at the end I would get a certificate and some physical examples of my acting. The other guest speaker was an ex student who graduated in 2016. He came to talk to us about his acting journey and about the audition process for University and Drama School. Even though I don't need to think about applying for University this year I still found it very helpful to have an idea of what the process is like.
Wednesday - Today we played multiple games that helped increase our focus and reflexes. We also did stretches and learned the start of a dance routine to warm us up which was fun. I find these games helpful and a great way to start the day. We were given the full cast list today. I got the role of Stage Manager on the 23rd of October show and ensemble for the 22nd of October. We were also given the final draft of the script so we were working through them with our official characters. As we will be working with the make-up students they came into lesson this afternoon to talk to us about our character ideas for makeup and talk about costume and our thoughts. I found this helpful. My stage manager character died in a fire so I want my character to appear ghost-like and burnt which will be shown through make-up and characterisation.
Thursday - Today we played multiple games. We looked at examples of close up phone call scenes from TV like Breaking Bad and The Office. In partners we practised saying our script to each other back to back and in front of each other whilst the other person responds with facial expressions and not responding.
In the second lesson we started to read through The Caucasian Chalk Circle. This is a Brecht play and we discussed the techniques used. I found the play interesting and I liked how the play started and ended in a similar way. We ended by playing a game (Empire) which helps us with our memory.
After lunch, we spent an hour on costumes and Ghost Tour scripts so I went over my monologue practising my Irish accent and starting to put the scene together. I also performed it in front of people and gained active feedback which I found really helpful.
To end the day we went through some songs for the Christmas show - My Son Pinocchio. For one of the songs (Toys) we split off into 3 character groups: Children, Parents or Geppetto. I was in the children group. I enjoy this song as it is light-hearted and really fun to sing. We also looked closely at the wake up song. We split off into high or low singers. I went with the low singers but I found this hard as I can't sing as low as required but I can't sing as high in the high group either. With practice I was able to sing the low part of the song which I found satisfying.
Week beginning 14th of October
Monday - In the morning we played a new game which involved us talking in an Australian accent which I thought was fun and it helps me with my accents. The game required a lot of focus which helps as I feel it improves mine. We continued practising our lines for the Ghost Light Tour. I practised with the double cast for the stage manager as that character is my main one. I enjoy practising with him as we can give each other the most helpful advice on the character.
Tuesday - To warm up we played mafia boss. We ran through the order of the Ghost Tour with the Tuesday cast. It was helpful to see how it will run but it was odd as we were just walking in circles around the dance studio.
Wednesday - This morning we played splat to warm up then went over our song we performed at the APTA sharing assembly. We sang Toys which is a song from our Christmas Show which is My Son Geppetto. I enjoyed the sharing show as it was enjoyable and nice to see what other people are doing currently in class. After lunch we went to see a musical as a class at the Stockton Globe. The musical was Heathers. I love Heathers and it was really nice to watch it with my friends. After the show I spoke to some of the actors about their journey which was helpful and very good as it proved to me it is not impossible to get a professional acting job.
Thursday - Today we went through the Ghost Tour with the Wednesday cast. I found it helpful as I now have a rough visual knowledge of what the order of the show is. Some new things where added which was unexpected but in this show anything can happen as the audience is in a really close proximity so the practice of dealing with the unexpected was helpful. We also talked about the schedule for working in the Globe next week. I am excited about working in the Globe as it is my first professional acting job. After the week break we will be auditioning for our Pinocchio parts so we learnt the songs which was interesting and helpful as we now have time to start preparing after the Globe shows.
Week beginning 21st of October - Globe Ghost Tour Show Week and Filming
Monday - Today we were at the Globe. We went on a tour of the spaces and practiced with each cast separately, whilst waiting I was practicing lines and sorting out the prop table and my clipboard sheets. When going on tour with my cast we figured out entering and leaving the spaces which I found very helpful. We also set the end piece which was very helpful as we couldn't plan this in college as we didn't know what space we had and where the audience will be.
Tuesday - The first show day was today. It was very exciting. We came in and did last minute rehearsals this morning before lunch. After lunch we had our make-up done which I loved as it was a really calm and fun experience as we get ready before the show because when I had my make-up done I truly felt like my character. My character today was an 'Acute' which is a patient in a mental asylum. I loved playing this character. In the scene I was twitching, talking to an imaginary friend, being really scared of things that weren't there. I also went up to people to scare them which was fun as people were very scared.![]() |
| Stage Manager and Mad Director |
Wednesday - We finished Ghost Tour at the Globe. I had the role of Stage Manager and was seen by the audience multiple times. It was a new experience interacting with the audience and I enjoyed it. I panicked and rambled on the first show which was fine and the second show I said my monologue a lot better and didn't ramble.
Thursday - Today I went into College to film Dead Money. It was very interesting as this is my first college film. My role was the Mobster.
There was a lot of film crew and the room became very crowded quickly. They where constantly worried of not finishing the film in time so tried to rush but couldn't as they where very particular with the way the scenes looked. It was still a fun and interesting experience though.Friday - I finished the film today as yesterday we didn't get as much as they thought would get done. There was only 3 people in the film crew and that made the filming process a lot easier and we finished quicker than we thought. The filming process was the same as yesterday. The thing I love most about filming is that if you messed up or didn't like the way you did something you can redo it very easily.
Week beginning 4th of November
Monday - We prepped for our auditions this morning. In the afternoon we had a seminar with Tom where we were talking about acting through song and he showed us some good examples and bad examples. We talked through each video and identified techniques. I found this extremely helpful. We also had a tutorial with Abbie talking about to properly evaluate our work so we can get the best grades at the end of the year. This was very useful and worthwhile. After the Tutorial I went to our Library and started to re-write my Ghost Tour Evaluation based off what we talked about.
Tuesday - Today was speaking auditions. The Ringleader which is the character I went for has 3 lines so I joined the ensemble group and we did a scene. This decision was last minute which was scary but we had the whole morning to practice and put it together. I enjoyed working with a group.
Wednesday - This morning we talked to Abbie about her experience working for Disney and the audition process. We also learned some choreography from a parade which was a lot of fun. In the afternoon we went to Sunderland Empire Theatre to watch War Horse. I loved it. It was very emotional. The set was simple and there was a small cast but it was so amazing to watch. The horses were all puppets and they were extremely convincing. One of the horses was dying and it was obvious not just by the way it moved but by the way it looked as the material that covered the body was torn and didn't look as nice compared to the other horses showing simple things can really work effectively.
Thursday - This is my first singing audition which was scary and my character has a big song so this was important. I did terrible. I sang very well but I just stood there and sang. Because I was focusing on the song all day, I forgot to add movement and give them characterisation which I wanted. I taught myself the song but learnt it wrong so my main focus was singing correctly and I forgot to show my character whilst singing.
Week beginning 11th of November
Monday - In the morning we played bus stop. This game is where you walk up to the driver as an emotion or character, the other people in the bus copy you and then the next people walk in and you change to copy their emotion or character. I enjoy the game as it requires improvisation to be the character. I was a smurf so was enthusiastic and happy whilst singing the famous song. This game is helpful to warm up as it is more relaxed acting and helps me get ready for the day. We looked at creating characters of the perfect children in Idyllia.
Tuesday - Today was last prep for the Unit 1 script 'the flick' before the assessment next Tuesday. I forgot about this assignment as was busy with Ghost Tour then Pinocchio auditions. We practised in our groups separately a few times before watching each others and giving feedback which I found very helpful before next week. To improve on my own characterisation I am going to reread the whole script to fully understand the character and her journey which will help my representation of her and it will help to understand the context for our scene more as I will know what happened before and after. After lunch, we went through all songs in My Son Pinocchio. This is the first time that I heard all 3 parts to the Pleasure Island song for my role as Ringleader.
Wednesday - To warm up we played Mafia. This game helps with focus and to improve our peripheral vision as we have to keep an eye on if we are being winked at but not make it obvious to the detective. We started to block toys which is the first ensemble song. As there are 3 casts we have to keep track of what we are doing and it is quite easy to get what I am doing wrong. I enjoy performing the song as it is chaotic and fun.
Thursday - We finished Toys today. The next ensemble song we performed was Satisfaction Guaranteed, I am not in this song so I worked on a grid to separate the 3 Cast lists together and what I am doing on each one. I also began working on my character profiles for the parent in Toys and the Ringleader. In the afternoon I went home as I was ill.
Week beginning 18th of November
Monday - This morning we played moving day which I enjoyed as it is a fun way to get us moving quickly and get the energy we need for the day. We started looking at Pleasure Island and creating carnival rides in groups. We all started with a roller-coaster. Our group changed their ideas multiple times so it was hard to keep up with them and figure out what we were doing. When we added movement to the routine it was hard to configure as we all went different speeds and would often separate. We then all changed the ride we were recreating.
Tuesday - Today we had our Unit 1 Assessment of our scene from the Flick. We practised and went through it using all the props for the first time then performed in front of everyone. After we performed it Kelly gave us some feedback and then chose a student to redirect it. Our redirection was to swap places with a character so we were all doing something different.
Wednesday - In the morning we practised exercises to help us work together to do things in sync. I found some exercises easier, for example I found the mirror game easier than having to walk around until we stopped as a group at the same time. We went through most of the songs and started to block Pleasure Island for red cast. This means I am not in it as I am an animal for red cast. I still was paying attention and watched what the ringleader was doing so I knew what to do when it was my turn as Ringleader when we did Pleasure Island as Blue Cast.
Thursday - We started a full run through of the full play in the red cast. As I am not on stage until the end I left rehearsals and went to practice my singing and lines. I went through Pleasure Island for the first time with the other ringleader at the same time.
Week beginning 18th of November
Monday - In the morning we went through Pleasure Island again but this time me and the other Ringleader kept swapping out and doing it by ourself. This is the first time I was performing this and got nervous as I am not a confident singer. That is why I went for this role because I want to challenge myself with a character that does quite a lot of solo singing. In the afternoon we carried on going through the full run through from where we finished off on Thursday, during this I carried going through my lines and the dance to the Pleasure Island song. I am also in a scene involving animals which hasn't been looked at yet. This because it was still unclear as to who was what role in which cast. That meant that in the afternoon I helped Kelly to figure out who could play what in each cast which was a long process but very satisfying once it was all figured it out because it means that people can start to learn lines and we can start blocking the scene.
Tuesday - Today we had our flick assessment. I was playing Rose with Jack and Daisy playing Sam and Avery. We performed it and Kelly assessed. After, Kelly and the class gave us each redirection and we performed it again. Our group redirection was to change position and action as we are cleaning but do something different.
Wednesday - This morning 2 2nd Years ran a warm up with a bell and we had to not make a sound with the bell as we walked to another person. This was to help us with our concentration. I found this game boring when I wasn't doing anything as I was just stood watching. After we moved on to slow motion as there is a section in an ensemble song for My Son Pinocchio where we are in a slow motion sequence with our families. We also blocked 'I got no strings' and 'Pleasure Island'.
Thursday - We worked on the last ensemble song which is 'Satisfaction Guaranteed'. The other casts then had a chance to practice this song. After this we did a full run through in red cast.
Week beginning 25th of November
Monday - We played multiple games this morning to help with our concentration. After this, Kelly gave us some time to go and work on things individually. We finished blocking Pleasure Island where the children turn into donkeys. To finish we carried on with the full run through in the red cast we started yesterday.
Tuesday - We played cat and mouse to start with. We started a full run through of the Blue Cast which is the cast when I am Ringleader.
Wednesday - To warm up we looked at 3 components to our main character in My Son Pinocchio which are the body, face and voice. We wrote these things on a sheet then walked around normally. When told we added each character aspect separately. I found this very helpful to get into character. We began to work on the green cast Act 2. This is when I am an animal.
Thursday - The main focus of the day was the singing for all songs. We went through the ensemble songs then Tom went over the individual character songs so we could go and practice things we needed to and continue sorting out costumes.
Week beginning 2nd of December
Monday - We had a new warm up game with 2 2nd years which was about concentration. After, Tom went through Act 2 singing with the movement. The main focus was Satisfaction guaranteed.
Tuesday - We were given a piece of paper with a name age and job profession on for the warm up as we walked around and interacted with other people in character. I decided my character was French so I spoke little basic English in a French accent. I love improv and the creative freedom when creating a character. We performed Toys for the Level 2s and then showed Kelly, Tom, Abbie and Nina our costumes for each character.
Wednesday - Today we had a day off the rest before going to the Arc on Thursday and starting to prepare for the show the following week.
Thursday and Friday - During these days we did full costume run throughs in each cast and the makeup team watched to see if they need to make adjustments to their timings.
Week beginning 9th of December - SHOW WEEK
Monday - We started to build the set and settled in to our changing rooms getting costume and organising things. We had to wait for the set to be built before we could practice on the stage so we practiced separately. I was having my makeup trial for Ringleader. I had two different eye designs on and we went to the stage to see which looked better from the audience perspective. I enjoyed the makeup trial as the makeup artists were all friendly and we got on well talking through the makeup and she asked for my opinion and how I felt making sure I was comfortable which was considerate and she was really easy to work with. To end the day we did a tech run which is where we set the lights for each scene this is a long process but is obviously very necessary.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday - Every day we did run through and focused on weak points and scenes that were a worry for people then performed for Primary Schools had a relaxed performance and public.
Week beginning 6th of January
Monday - In the morning after a catch up we separated into groups of 4 and discussed our goals for the year then told Kelly to discuss and improve them. My goal was to play a prewritten character after I have played two characters that I had to write myself. When talking to Kelly she helped me realise that I need a different goal as mine doesn't push me because I can already comfortably play a pre-written character. We decided that my goal should be a more out there character that challenges me and brings me out of my comfort zone. Kelly also gave us the assignment brief that goes with My Son Pinocchio. This assignment is due Friday therefore I spent the rest of the day working on it.
Tuesday - This morning to warm up we played ninja and splat. Kelly talked to us about National Theatre, the play, the writer and expectations. Afterwards we split into groups of 4 and read the first page of the script we then talked about the tree and it's symbolism so we could better understand the script and the writer's intentions. I found this very interesting and I am really looking forward to continuing working on this project. The rest of the day I worked on finishing my coursework that is due on Friday.
Wednesday - Today we weren't in college as it was a teacher training day. So I started doing research on the national theatre and the writer of our play.
Thursday - We read the full script of Normalised our National Theatre script. It was interesting to read and it and see the characters and their journey through the story. We then talked about Shakespeare and started reading through A Midsummer Night's Dream and stopping to discuss the plot and the characters. After lunch, we talked about homophobia and how gay people act as in the Connections script there are a few LGBTQ+ characters and homophobia is a theme of the script. To finish the day we were singing just so we could keep up with practice.
Week beginning 13th of January
Monday - To warm up we played a new game about character motivation and their objectives where two people had to get a water bottle and they had obstacles as to how they could win. We then talked about emotional memory and walked around with emotions and told people why we were angry, upset and excited. After, we split into groups and told each other a story from when we were young we then choose one and acted it out. After the rest of the class guessed who's story it was.
Tuesday - The warm ups helped with focus and concentration. We then started learning about Uta Hagen and her 9 questions that the actor should ask and answer about their character in order to better understand them and help play them more naturally. We used these 9 questions to help create our characters for the no context scenes given to help create context. I found these 9 questions really helpful in the process time for the scene.
Wednesday - We started the day by playing a fast paced moving game to get us warmed upo and ready for the day whixh is helpfgul. We moved on to introduce natural acting so improvised going to a birthday party to be natural and incorprating past experiences and feelings when acting to help our acting seem more natural I found this technique very useful and helpful when acting. We started having discussions about statement that link to themes in Normalised.
Week beginning 3rd of February
Monday - This morning to warm up we played an improv game that helps with concentration and memory as we have to remember the order of different scenes we did. I enjoyed this game as I love improv. To improve I could put myself closer at the beginning so I have more to remember and can really dare and push myself into a character for each scene as I think that will help with the memory of each scene. One of the things we need to improve on as a company is diction and articulation. Therefore, Kelly gave us song lyrics and in groups we recited them to each other. The second time we did this we needed to include emotion to try and tell the story of the song. I found this helpful as it gives good practice to discussing the emotions and the reasoning for scenes we will perform as I think they will help me portray the scenes more realistically. The third time we moved further apart to increase our volume and keep the emotion. I found this helpful as it is important to be heard when performing and not rely on mics as this next project we don't have any. The last thing we did with the lyrics was use it as a stimulus to devise a short piece. Our group decided to have a flashback of an old couple reminiscing on the past. To improve I could have put myself more into the piece.
Tuesday - The games in the morning helped to improve concentration. We continued working on our no context scripts with the redirection given to us by Kelly. This really challenged me as I didn't know how to change it. When performing Kelly gave us more helpful advice on how to make the scene better and more believeable. To end we briefly started talking about Miesner and his technique to distract the brain so you can focus on he character more.
Wednesday - We bagan going over the table scenes and getting into costume ready for filming today. I really enjoyed filming and i found the behind the scenes really interesting. I think when I was filming I did a really great job as I remembered my lines and was acting naturally. To improve I would focus more on the consistency during filming. I did try but I could have done better. In the afternoon we continued working through DNA and blocking it. I enjoyed this as I liked the creative freedom as we all worked together to block and direct it. After we began looking at the scenes with Tom blocking them and incorporating his ideas into it.

Monday - This morning we played moving day to warm up which helped me get ready for the day. In groups we used levels and improv to create a scene. To improve on our scene was a bit short and we didn’t stick to the levels. In casts we started talking about weekly goals to achieve which helped us all get onto the same page. We continued the day with rehearsing.
Tuesday - rehearsing for DNA
Wednesday - put in ensemble and rehearsed scenes for Normalised.
Thursday - stick it to the man and more DNA.
Tuesday - Today we did a warm up led by Noah and Keiran to help us with projection ready for Normalised at Newcastle. They also spoke to us about Monologue preparation and auditions ready for tomorrow. I found this very helpful to continue preparing for tomorrow. I then spent the rest of the day going over my monologues and continued to work on my assignments.
Week beginning 28th of April
Monday - Today we did read throughs of Railway Children and The Lovely Bones where we talked about each scene with any questions and talked about the characters and their relationships. I found this helpful as we look at putting on the show.
Tuesday -
Week beginning 2nd of June - Show Week
